Romans 15:2-4
Amplified Bible (AMP)
Let each one of us make it a practice to please (make happy) his neighbor for his good and for his true welfare, to edify him [to strengthen him and build him up spiritually].
For Christ did not please Himself [gave no thought to His own interests]; but, as it is written, The reproaches and abuses of those who reproached and abused you fell on Me.
For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope.
We live in a self serving culture and time. They call it the “me” generation. What a sad testament to humanity. In Christ this should never be! We are called to think not of our needs only but to give, bless, love and comfort others. Christ gave us a clear picture of this when he gave His life because He loved. This is the example we are called to follow. Take some time today and ask the Lord how you can love someone by putting their needs first. He will surely bless your efforts.
