Isaiah 11:1-5 The Message Bible
A green Shoot will sprout from Jesse’s stump, from his roots a budding Branch.
The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding.
The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength, the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God.
Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight. He won’t judge by appearances, won’t decide on the basis of hearsay.
He’ll judge the needy by what is right, render decisions on earth’s poor with justice.
His words will bring everyone to awed attention. A mere breath from his lips will topple the wicked.
Each morning he’ll pull on sturdy work clothes and boots, and build righteousness and faithfulness in the land.
Who is this Savior that we know as the Lord Jesus Christ? Is He anything but wonderful in every way? I have been thinking a lot about the goodness of God lately. God’s goodness can be seen if we will take the time to pay attention and keep a thankful heart. Yes, there are troubles on every hand but He is our Victor! Many are the afflictions of the righteous ~ His Word tell us, BUT He also said the He would deliver us out of them all! Today, focus on all the goodness that He brings to us: wisdom, understanding, strength, direction, joy, delight, justice, power over the wicked and the power of His Words! He never slumbers or sleeps. He is always ready to move on our behalf!
