Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Colossians 3:15
The calling or the will of God for your life can honestly seem quite overwhelming, especially with all the access to opportunity made possible through technology. There are endless options for career paths and as Christians we need to find the one that is the will of God. Then, as Christians it is our responsbility to be the very best in our field or else we will shame the name of Christ.
This kind of message certainly gets preached more often than not to young people. Interestingly enough, I have never come across one scripture that says we are called to be the best. Neither have I found the calling and the will of God attached to a job title.
Colossians 3:15 specifcally tells us something that we are called to, peace. We are to let the peace of God rule in our hearts.
Instead of measuring the will of God on our lives by job title and performance, we are to measure it by the peace and freedom we have in Christ.
Whether we are walking in the will of God for our lives is not determined by how well we are excelling at our jobs, it is determined by the level of peace and freedom we are experiencing in Christ.
Instead of logic ruling our hearts and making the decisions in our lives, we are to let the peace of God rule in our hearts.
Peace is not to be some distant fairy tale dream in the Christian life. Peace is our calling. Walk in peace today.
