Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
Wonderful counselor…selah. Some days I need a very wise counselor don't you? Our Savior is that, but He is also a Mighty God, our Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. He is the Almighty God, but He chose to wrap Himself in flesh so that He could take on the punishment of our sin for us. The Father's loving example of “giving” should be the focus of our hearts this Christmas Season. He was born to give Himself in our place, He lived to walk among us, He died to save us and He lives again to fellowship with us. He is Emmanuel “God With Us!”
