“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be

content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For

the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (1 Timothy 6:6-11

This is doubtless the most prosperous generation in history. Likewise, today's church is prosperous. We have the finest buildings, facilities, programs, training, music, etc.

But do we thirst for God and hunger for holiness? Is purity of heart and life our spiritual quest? Can we say with David, “As a deer pants for flowing streams of water, so

my soul longs for you, O God” (Psalm 42:1)?

When I turn on So-called Christian TV, I hear about how to have a better marriage in Jesus' name, how to have a better sex life in Jesus name, how to be healed in Jesus

name, and how to prosper and be in health … All of course, in Jesus name (all important in some ways I suppose).

But seldom are we hearing about how to be holy, how to live an overcoming life, how to live godly in Christ Jesus, or how to have victory over sin.

No wonder so many Christians falter…and ministries fail.
