Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, …. Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed. Proverbs 3.13, 17&18 NIV
Decisions are a part of everyday life. In fact, there is never a moment in which we are not making a decision. This morning, you made a decision to wake up, get dressed, and go to work or school. Right now you are making a decision whether to continue reading this devotion or to stop.
These decisions come with little to no concious thought. Most of life is this way. We do what we do without thinking about it because we have done it that way for so long. But Then, there are those moments where something unexpected happens or we are forced to go into a situation that we have never experienced before.
These moments typically cause somewhat of a panic response. We realize that the next step we take is going to affect us, the ones we love, and even the world. It is in these moments we begin to revaluate the entirety of our lives.
These moments are a vulnerable time. Fear is at its highest potential. There is not only danger in making the wrong decision but there is also danger in making no decision at all.
How can we know what to do?
Proverbs 3 tells us that people who gain wisdom and understanding are blessed. Thankfully, the bible has a lot to say about wisdom and there are standards to measure your decision up against to see if you are making the right one.
In verse 17, wisdom we are told that the ways of wisdom are always pleasant and all her paths are peace. Notice what it does not say. It does not say that ways of wisdom are always comfortable, financially secure, or logical. The first question in making a decision is do I feel peace about it? The peacful decision is a lot of times uncomfortable, but it is typically the one you know you should make in your gut even if it makes no logical sense at all.
Today, if you don't know what to do choose the path of peace!
