A father once made a promise to their child, “ I will feed you.” The child responded,” Ok, Papa.” The child assumed that the father meant that he was going to feed them right then. A few minutes passed by and the child said, “ I thought you were going to feed me.” The father replied, “ I said I will feed you.” The child argued back, “Why are you not feeding me now?” The father replied again, “I said I will feed you.”
The child then began to cry and pound their fists against the ground, “I want my food now! I want my food now!” The father watched his child from afar but gave no reply. The child cried until they became convinced that their father did not care. The child said in their heart, “He broke his promise. He did not feed me.”
The child decided to run far away from their father so that they would never have to face the pain of the broken promise again. They thought someone else will feed me and they were right. Others did feed them. The child ate dirt for the rest of their life.
What the child didn’t know was that when their father did not respond to their temper tantrum he was watching as he was preparing an elaborate feast. He had planned to feed the child the best of all the meats found on the earth. He was taking his time to prepare food that would make them strong able to conquer whatever came their way and food that would satisfy beyond a few minutes.
Has your heavenly father made you a promise? Have you thrown a temper tantrum and ran away because it wasn’t given to you in a certain time frame or have you waited patiently knowing what his word says is true?
Psalm 145:13,14-16 tells us that The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The eyes of all look to him, and he gives them food at their proper time. He opens his hand and satisfies the desire of every living thing.
The child never saw or partook of the feast because they ran away and took their eyes of their father. God is preparing a feast for you today that will satisfy you forever. Will you keep your eyes on him?
