2 Thessalonians 2 – The Message Bible

So, friends, take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high. Keep a tight grip on what you were taught, whether in personal conversation or by our letter. May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.

Recently I was in a strange city and I was trying to navigate my way around.  I asked several different people for directions and all I got was more confused.    I appreciate Paul's directness in this passage.  There's nothing like clarity when you are on a journey.  We are on this journey of life as Christ Followers and once again we are encouraged to stand firm and keep a tight grip on what we have been taught.  There's no room for complacency or sloppiness here.  It's clear we are to be doers of the Word.  The Lord will surprise us with grace gifts as He changes us from the inside out.  He will give us vision, excitement and confidence as we walk the walk of following Him!
