Philippians 4:8,9 The Message Bible

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

“The mind can make a heaven out of hell or a hell out of heaven”-John Milton

I believe John Melton must have understood this verse.  The Lord shows us how very important it is to take control of our minds.  We have many opportunities to let our minds run amuck and we all know where that leads. I have learned over the years that speaking God's Word outloud is a weapon against letting the mind wander to a negative place. Today, make a decision to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.  A mind filled with the Word of God is a mind full of Christ!
