But I trust in your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in your salvation.  Psalm 13:5

But I trust in you Lord; I say, “You are my God.” Psalm 31:14

Trust. It is a rare gem that few are blessed to find. The combination of constant influx of information and world disasters makes us skeptical of anything we hear. When is the last time you just took someone's word for something? No matter how credible a person is in western culture, especially being in college, we are taught to research it for ourselves. At the very hint of evidence contrary to a proposed fact we write it off as untrue and the person is stripped of credibility. In order to come to truth on a matter multiple sources are consulted never just one.

Do you find this happening in your personal life? When someone says something do you immediately trust them even if you have known them a considerable length of time. How many people can you name that you truly believe?

For most of us these are hard and uncomfortable questions. We see the circumstances of life and trust simply looks impossible.

Though disasters maybe increasing, hard times and unreliable people are not new. David in the bible knew them better than probably any of us will ever know. He knew what it was like to have enemies on every side. He knew what it was like to live a life where people were whispering,” Terror on every side!” (Psalm 31:14).

It was in these moments that David continually faced a decision, “Do I trust in God or do I consult all the information and circumstances around me?”

It was in these moments he did not turn a blind eye to what was going on around him in ignorance. He fully acknowledged his predicament and he made a decision to declare “But I trust in you Lord”; “But I trust in your unfailing love”.  This continual trust lead him into kingship. By trusting God he was able to preserve his life and ultimately fulfill his destiny.

Where are you at in your life right now? Are enemies surrounding you? Are there sources in your life whispering terror? Do circumstances seem to not be lining up? You are in good company. You are in a position to decide the course of your life.

Will you stand up and declare with David, “But I trust in you Lord”?  Remember your destiny is tied directly to your trust.
