But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

Have you ever worried about what you are going to do tomorrow? It's quite overwhelming especially if you don't know how you will get food and/or clothing. Worrying is a hard habit to break.  Worrying can be defined in the dictionary as feeling uneasy about something, or troubled. There is also another use of worrying. Worrying is also the word used to depict a dog tearing a bone with it's teeth shaking and togging at it repeatedly.

Does this describe you today? Worried about how you are going to pay the bills, put feet on your children's shoes, or maybe the worry is about the future, what am I going to be when I grow up or how am I going to get the house clean before my relatives come in. You maybe thinking how am I going to get what I need to make it through tomorrow?

After Jesus gave the beatitudes to the crowd on the mount his speaking did not stop there. He continued to exhort them. Later in his speech he began to tell them do not worry about your life, what you will eat and drink or about your body, what you will wear. He told them to look at the birds of the air and how they are fed. He told them to look at the flowers of the field and how beautifully clothed they are. God is the one who feeds the birds and clothes the lilies of the field. If God provides for them do you not think God will provide for you.God tells us not to worry about these things like the pagans or people of this world do.

After Jesus tells them this, he finishes this section of the speech with “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  The only way to be clothed and fed forever is by seeking God's kingdom and his righteousness. People of this world may succeed in this lifetime but upon death they will be cast into Hell. We must seek God to be eternally preserved. While on earth the people of the world may succeed but they will have to toil and work endlessly for the things they obtain. As children of God even while we are here on the earth we do not have to stress about tomorrow. All we have to do is be obedient to God, seek him and his righteousness and then he will provide for us.

Food, clothing, health and anything else we need is not a problem for God. Stop Worrying. Seek his kingdom and his righteousness and all not some but all these things will be given to you.
