Matthew 27:11-14 ~ The Amplified Bible

Now Jesus stood before the governor [Pilate], and the governor asked Him, Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus said to him, You have stated [the fact]. But when the charges were made against Him by the chief priests and elders, He made no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, Do You not hear how many and how serious are the things they are testifying against You?  But He made no reply to him, not even to a single accusation, so that the governor marveled greatly.

Can you imagine how Jesus must have felt?  He was totally innocent and beyond that, He was the Son of God.  In His humanity He must have had feelings to defend Himself.  On one side, He knew what He was called to, He knew what was required.  On the other hand, He was a man.  He entrusted Himself to His Father.  How hard that is for us sometimes.  When we are falsely accused, we buck up.  We want everyone to hear our side of the story.  Sometimes it is appropriate to speak the truth in love, but there are times when we are to be quiet and leave things in God's hands.  The good news is, God our Father always has the last word!
