Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing to make them stumble.
1 John 2: 9-10
1 John begins with the theme of light and darkness. Chapter 1 verses 5-6 say, “This is the message we have heard from him to declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live in the truth.”
As followers of Christ we long to live for him. We long to live in light and truth. It certainly should be our objective to get rid of any darkness in our lives yet many Christians walk around confused at why they cannot draw closer to God. They wonder why no matter how hard they pray or how long they read their word they are not recieving the blessing of God.
Walking in the light of God requires something of us. 1 John 2:9-10 makes it clear that in order to live in the light or to live in God we cannot hate our brothers and sisters. If you are wondering why you are not hearing from God or recieving his blessing check your heart. Is there any hatred towards a fellow brother or sister in Christ?
If so surrender it to God so that you may walk in all that God has for you today. We know that we are loving the children of God when we love God and carry out his commands. (1 John 5:2-3)
Release all Hatred from your heart. Love God. Obey God and Walk in the light today!
