Temple Shock by John Powers

It’s that time of year where those who have pools are taking off the covers and treating their pools with Pool Shock. The water has set stagnant without treatment for a season,  and consequently, bacteria and algae have set in to corrupt the pool. The water is unfit to get into until special chemicals have been poured into the water to balance the pH levels, and extra measures have been taken to clean the remaining debris in and around the pool.

Our temples, our bodies, are very much like these untreated stagnant pools in that we sometimes go for a season where we become complacent in our walk with God. Consequently, our spirit and soul become contaminated with the buildup of untreated sin. We let our systems get overloaded with the ways of the world, and the only way to balance it back out is to Shock it. We need a Temple Shock!

When we find ourselves at this stage or season in life, we need to bring ourselves back into balance. The only way to accomplish this is to open yourself up by pulling off the old wine skin cover you have covered yourself in and pour in an abundance of God’s Grace. Only the Grace of God will rejuvenate, regenerate and rebuild your temple back to a healthy, fit condition. You will need to pour in the word of God on a daily basis for the next thirty days for thirty to sixty minutes and hopefully more.

This thirty to sixty minutes will consist of reading, studying and exercising the word of God and does not count as your prayer time. As you begin to apply yourself in this fashion, you will feel and experience the grace of God miraculously moving in to start the cleansing and restoring process. It’s not by works, but it’s the nature of God’s Grace at work as you pour His word back into your life. God’s word is the most powerful thing on the planet, and it is also the most cleansing and healing thing as well. At this point, you need it in large doses to do a deep cleansing and restoring in your temple. As I said last week, the second half of 2013 is going to be the reaping season for those who have diligently sought God. Make preparations now and make yourselves ready to receive. Pour in an abundance of God’s Grace this June and do a Temple Shock so you can enjoy the second season of what God has in store for you (Isaiah 40:31).
